| Current U.S. Team Diana Hankey-Underwood, MS, WHNP-BC, Executive Director, is a nurse practitioner. She was recently awarded 2 National awards: the Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health and the Bayer HealthCare 2007 Inspiration in Women’s Health Award and the National Association For Continence 2007 Continence Care Champion (CCC) award. Gay Johnson, Treasurer, and her husband recently hosted the Kazakh surgeon team in their home. They have been a major source of support. She is also the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for another large non-profit. Ainur Aiypkhanova, is learning about public health administration at Indiana University. She recently volunteered her entire Christmas vacation for our last trip and over the last 2 years has spent countless hours translating and helping to organize many efforts to benefit the people of Kazakhstan. Don Hennig, owner of Don Hennig Video volunteered to live with our mission group for his entire vacation in order to send back to Kazakhstan footage of surgeries and other events that the doctors wanted to share with family and colleagues. He is currently creating a DVD showcasing the many many individuals who created such an incredible journey for our guests. Peter and Ellen Schlick, RN. recently housed part of the medical mission to the east coast. They are adoptive parents, organizers, donors, moral supporters and will soon be part of the Board of Directors. Kathy Szymanski, BSN, is active in helping to arrange and advertise classes and is also on the board of directors. She helped enroll class members and set up each of the 22 classes that have been held so far.
Peg Trueman Ed.D. MSN RN CNE, is a Certified Nurse Educator and
the education consultant on our team. She brings a wealth of expertise in
instructional design and presentations. In 2009 she was selected as one of North Carolina’s Great 100 Nurses
for making a difference in her community and professional setting through
her commitment to Nursing Excellence.
